After crossing the border from Herceg-Novi, we will pass the fertile
Konavle Valley, the village of Cilipi and Zupa Dubrovacka. The coastal
highway provides panoramic views of the city walls, ancient rooftops and
picturesque surroundings. The uniqueness of Dubrovnik is clear at first
sight. The walls that encircle the city are the most recognizable feature of
Dubrovnik and the main attraction for visitors. Five fortresses are within
the city walls and provide stunning views. The state archives contain
documents from medieval times for those interested in the political and
economic relationship between the Dubrovnik Republic and other
European counties throughout history. The Franciscan monastery and the
museum contain the old pharmacy’s inventory dating back to the 14th
century and the Dominican monastery features a collection of 15th and
16th century pieces from the Dubrovnik School of Art. A passport is
required for this trip.
